Crystal Carr Townsend, MPA
Crystal joined The Washington home in 2024 to work with the board, staff, and community organizations to expand innovative programs and services that improve the quality of life for elderly and/or terminally ill residents in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
She has more than 20 years of community-based service delivery and funding experience working with a variety of organizations including the Healthcare Initiative Foundation (HIF), where she served as President & CEO for 12 years.
Crystal is an active member of several community groups, including serving on The Montgomery Women Board; Montgomery Moving Forward Leadership Team, Regional Primary Coalition Management Team; Philanthropy DMV (formally Washington Regional Association of Grantmakers) Board — member and outgoing Treasurer; MCPS COVID Operations Advisory Team, and the BlackRock Center for the Arts Board.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Hood College in Law and Society, as well as a Master of Public Administration from Rutgers University from the International Public Service and Development Program.
